What is the the Forum module?

This module allows you to share your opinions with other members in your community. You will be able to discuss various issues within your community in this facility. All of the members in the community will be able to participate in the Public Forum and only certain related users will be able to utilize the Private Forums.

Private forums can be managed on a Mitechsoft Cube group-based (Public Group) or based on members in a newly created group (Private Group).

Access levels

There are several different access levels to the forum, they are (in order of highest access level to lowest): System Administrator, Forum Host, Ordinary User.

System Administrator or Forum Administrator

System Administrator will be able to do these following tasks:

  1. Total access to all forums
  2. Manage Forum Categories (i.e. Health, Education, Technology etc). Add, edit, delete or rename available catagories.
  3. Manage Forum. Create new forums, edit available forums or delete them.
  4. Manage Private Forum Groups (Private Group). Create new groups, delete available groups, manage members in the groups.

Forum Host

  1. Ability to lock, edit or delete forum topics
  2. Ability to Edit or Delete forum posts
  3. Accessing all public forums, and private forums that are made available by System Administrator

Ordinary Users

Using all forums that have access granted by System Admin or Forum Host.

Accessing Forum

  1. On the top menu-bar, click on the ‘Community’ menu, then click on ‘Forum’. The Forum main page will load. The left side-menu will depend on on whether you are an ordinary user, System Administrator or Forum Host. The main window will show the list of available forums
  2. The forums are divided according to their categories. In each category, the forums are listed according to their forum title. The status of the forum (whether public of private) will be shown under the forum title and description. To the right of the forum title and description, there is additional information:
  3. Click on a forum to access it. Once the forum loads, you will be presented with a list of all the available forum topics, as well as the following information:
    • The ID of the creator of the topic
    • Number of replies
    • Number of users who has viewed the post
    • Information about the last post
  4. Ordinary user: As ordinary user, you can only
    • View the permitted forum posts
    • Reply to available post
    • Create new post in the available topics
    • Create new topics.
  5. click on a topic to view the available posts

Creating a new topic

  1. Click on a forum to enter it
  2. Click on the ‘Create Topic’ button on the top of the main screen.
  3. Fill in the name of the topic and the description of that topic.
  4. Optionally, customize the topic description feild with ‘emoticons’
